choc hazelnut spread

Who says vegans can't enjoy nutella? You can make this hazelnut spread with only 4 ingredients! Hazelnuts, vegan chocolate, coconut oil and maple syrup. You can use cocoa powder instead of chocolate if you like.

Hazelnuts peeled and roasted



Recipe:


1 1/2 cups raw hazelnuts 2 tbsp coconut oil 1/2 cup vegan chocolate 2 tbsp maple syrup


1. First I like to roast my hazelnuts because it really enhances the flavour. Place them in the oven on a flat tray at 180 degrees celsius for about 15 mins or until fragrant. Remove and let them cool before placing in a damp kitchen towel and rubbing together to remove skins (some will stay on, that's fine)

2. Place the hazelnuts in a blender and mix until it forms a smooth paste.

3. Add the chocolate, coconut oil and maple syrup. Continue to mix until the hazelnut spread is creamy and smooth. Give it a taste and if you would like it to be a little sweeter you can add some more maple syrup.

4. Transfer to a jar and keep at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
